Pizzighettone is an historic town located in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Situated in the province of Cremona, Pizzighettone is known for its well-preserved medieval walls, charming architecture and strategic location along the Adda River.
History
Pizzighettone's history can be traced back to Roman times when it was a fortified settlement along the Adda River. During the Middle Ages, the town gained importance as a strategic military outpost and came under the rule of various noble families, including the Visconti and the Sforza. Pizzighettone's position on the border between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice made it a significant military stronghold.
