The two provinces of Umbria are easy to define as they are split between the northern and southern areas of the region.
In 18 of the 20 regions of Italy there are a number of provinces and this also applies to Umbria. Each province typically takes the name of the major city within it and there are then a larger number of comunes within each province which are the remaining towns and in some cases villages. In Umbria, the largest territory is covered by Perugia Province across the north while the smaller Terni Province marks the south. |
