History
Recanati has ancient origins, dating back to Roman times when it was known as "Potentia." One of the town's most famous figures is the poet Giacomo Leopardi, who was born in Recanati in 1798. Leopardi's literary works have left a lasting impact on Italian culture, and his childhood home is now a museum dedicated to his life and legacy.
