The UTI del Gemonese territory occupies a total geographical area of 235 square kilometres, including its administrative centre, the historic town of Gemona del Friuli and the borgo of Venzone.

One of the Intercomunal Territorial Unions of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, it has a total population of around 20,000 inhabitants living within its 6 official comunes (municipalities). ​​​
