In a region so famous for its wine production, the vineyard towns of Piedmont offer some of the best holiday opportunities.
Two of the Piedmont region's most famous wine-growing areas have claimed a place in the UNESCO World Heritage List under the heading: Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. Around these beautiful landscapes of rolling hills peppered with vineyards are numerous villages where the pace of life is slow and perfectly suited to lazy afternoons supping the local produce. Aside from the larger town of Asti, the most notable smaller villages include the likes of Barolo, Barbaresco and Canelli. |
