Located along the Riviera di Ponente in the province of Savona, Albisola Superiore is a lively seaside resort in the summer months, particularly July and August.
It's sandwiched between the neighbouring towns of Celle Lgure and Albissola Marina, also just a short drive from the city of Savona. |
The town's main feature is its promenade which divides its beach from the main town area where you'll find a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. As with most seafront locations in Liguria, the town's buildings come in a mixture of colours which give it a bright aspect.
From the beach to the train station is just a short walk while there are also buses to and from Savona where you'll find more major destinations if travelling by train. For visitors by road, Albisola is well served by the E80 motorway which the town has a junction on.
Albisola Superiore is not to be confused with its near-neighbour Albissola Marina, (note the double s in one and not the other).
