If you spend some time in Liguria you'll notice blue and white stripes in various places around the region, notably on the covers that protect the fishing boats when they're not being used. These same stripes can be seen in various places around Albissola Marina including on the colourful seafront promenade and just outside the main church.
Of course, the beach is the main attraction here and its mostly sandy with a mixture of private and free areas. In the private areas you can rent sun-loungers and parasols while there are lots of places to eat and drink at the back of the beach.
The splashes of colour don't end with the murals on the lungomare (esplanade), the town's brightly coloured buildings make for a pleasant place to do some shopping and there are a good number of shops here too. Also, don't miss the Parocchia Nostra Signora della Concordia church; I particularly like the little square outside the church with its concentric circles painted on the floor.
As with most towns along this stretch of coast, it's very easy to reach Albissola Marina by car due to the close proximity of the motorway with a junction at Albisola Superiore, the next town along. That's also the location of the nearest train station but you'll find a bigger train station with more strategic destinations in Savona which is the next closest town.
