The city of Andria is a co-capital city of the Province of Barletta Andria Trani with a population of 99,671 inhabitants.
Standing at an elevation of 151 metres above sea level, it covers a total area of 403 km² and lies 55 kilometres north west of Bari, the regional capital of Puglia. With its population touching a hundred thousand, Andria is one of the biggest cities in Puglia but attracts relatively few visitors. The main sight in Andria itself is the 12th century Cathedral. |
The Cathedral is located in the city's historic centre (centro storico) although most of the city has a very modern feel to it. Aside from the Cathedral, the nearby Chiesa di San Francesco is another church that merits attention but it's Castel del Monte, the UNESCO World Heritage Site just south of the city that attracts most visitors to the immediate area.
