Listed among the "Borghi Più Belli d'Italia" (Italy's most beautiful villages), Arquà Petrarca is located in the Province of Padua. It's situated 27 kilometres from the city of Padua and around 65 kilometres south west of Venice, the regional capital of Veneto.

Arquà Petrarca takes the second part of its name from the Italian Renaissance poet Petrarch who died in the town a day before his 70th birthday on 19th July 1374.
