The ski resort of Assergi is located within the Province of l'Aquila and has a population of 524 inhabitants. Standing at an elevation of 1,661 metres above sea level, it's situated 17 kilometres north east of the city of l'Aquila.

Places of interest nearby include Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Rocca Calascio and Castel del Monte.

History
Assergi has ancient origins dating back to the Roman period when it was known as "Asirgum." Over the centuries, the village was under various rulers, including the Lombards and the Normans.
