The town of Bernalda is situated within the Province of Matera and has a population of 12,423 inhabitants. ​Covering an area of 126 km², it stands 127 metres above sea level and is located 103 km from Potenza, the capital city of Basilicata.

​​The main sight of Bernalda is the 11th century Norman castle which was restored by the Aragonese in the 15th century.

Bernalda is a charming town located in the province of Matera, in the southern part of Basilicata. Situated near the Ionian coast, it is known for its scenic beauty and relaxed atmosphere. The town is built on a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the distant coastline.
