​The town of Bobbio is situated within the Province of Piacenza and has a population of around 3,500 residents.

It stands at an elevation of 272 metres above sea level and is included in the list of Borghi Più Belli d'Italia (most beautiful villages in Italy). Places of interest nearby include Grazzano Visconti, Piacenza and Castell'Arquato.

Bobbio is a historic town located in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Situated in the province of Piacenza, Bobbio is known for its rich history, ancient landmarks, and scenic surroundings.
History
Bobbio's history dates back to ancient times when it was an important Roman settlement known as "Bobium." In the 6th century, Saint Columbanus, an Irish missionary, founded the Bobbio Abbey, which became a renowned center of learning and culture in the early Middle Ages.

The abbey played a vital role in the preservation of classical knowledge during the early medieval period. Over the centuries, Bobbio was ruled by various noble families, including the Malaspina and the Visconti. Today, the town celebrates its historical heritage, with well-preserved medieval architecture and cultural treasures.
