The town of Cava de' Tirreni is located within the Province of Salerno and has a population of 52,931 inhabitants. Covering an area of 18 km², it stands at an elevation of 180 metres above sea level and lies 47 km from Naples, capital of Campania.

The main sights of Cava de' Tirreni include the 16th century cathedral and the abbey known as La Trinità or La Badia di Cava.
