The city of Chiavari is located within the Province of Genoa and has a population of 27,537 inhabitants.

​Covering an area of 12 km², it's situated on the Riviera di Levante, 40 kilometres east of Genoa, the capital city of Liguria. The main attractions of Chiavari include the medieval market square Piazza Mazzini, the cathedral, the marina and the beach.

History
Chiavari has ancient origins, dating back to Roman times when it was a settlement known as Clavarium. Throughout history, Chiavari was ruled by various noble families and was an important trading and maritime center in the Ligurian region.
