Stretching around 175 kilometres from Agropoli in the north to Scario in the south, the Cilento Coast offers spectacular scenery, seaside towns, great beaches and a number of intriguing hill towns. 

The beautiful coastal region forms part of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park which covers an area of around 1,800 km².
Highlights along the coastal region include the aforementioned Agropoli, Palinuro and Marina di Camerota. The region can best be reached by car, heading south from Naples Airport towards Salerno and then past the famous ruins of Paestum.

The Cilento Coast is a stunning and unspoiled stretch of coastline located in the Campania region of southern Italy. The region is named after the ancient town of Cilento, which was once part of Magna Graecia and inhabited by the ancient Greeks. Over the centuries, the Cilento area saw the rise and fall of various civilizations, including the Etruscans and Romans, who left their mark on the landscape.

In more recent history, the Cilento Coast remained relatively isolated and preserved, making it a hidden gem for those seeking an authentic and unexplored destination. In 1991, the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park was established to protect the area's natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Marina di Camerota: With its beautiful sandy beaches and clear waters, Marina di Camerota is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.
  • Palinuro: This coastal town is famous for its stunning sea caves, such as the Blue Grotto, which can be explored on boat tours.
  • Morigerati Caves: This natural reserve features an intricate system of caves and gorges, perfect for adventurous explorations.
  • Local Cuisine: While visiting the Cilento Coast, travelers can savor traditional Campanian dishes, including fresh seafood, buffalo mozzarella, pasta with local sauces, and wines like Aglianico and Fiano.
