The Crete Senesi is a valley area situated within the Province of Siena, around 30 kilometres south-east of Siena itself. For many people, the Crete Senesi provides the very embodiment of Tuscan scenery with its rolling hills studded with cypress trees.
The key tows in the area are Asciano and Buonconvento, while the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore is one of its most iconic sights.
