​​The town of Fagagna is situated within the Province of Udine and has a population of around 6,000 residents.

It rises to an elevation of 266 metres above sea level and is included in the list of Borghi Più Belli d'Italia (most beautiful villages in Italy). Places of interest nearby include the towns of San Daniele del Friuli, Udine, Spilimbergo, and Cividale del Friuli.

Fagagna is a historic town in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy, situated on gentle hills west of Udine. Surrounded by rolling countryside, vineyards, and woodlands, it retains a strong connection to its medieval past while offering a peaceful rural setting. The town is known for its well-preserved historic centre, traditional stone houses, and a strong sense of local heritage. 

One of the most distinctive features of Fagagna is its ancient castle ruins, perched on a hill with views over the surrounding landscape. Though only fragments remain, the site offers a glimpse into the town’s medieval origins. The main square and its surrounding streets are lined with historic buildings, including the 18th-century Church of San Michele Arcangelo, which holds significant artistic and architectural value. Fagagna is also home to the Cjase Cocèl Museum, an open-air museum showcasing traditional rural life in Friuli, with reconstructions of old farmhouses, workshops, and daily life from past centuries. 

Just outside the town, the Quadris Nature Reserve is a key attraction, dedicated to the conservation of the white stork and other native wildlife. A short drive to the east, Udine provides a lively mix of historic palaces, elegant piazzas, and Venetian-style architecture. Further afield, the Colli Orientali wine region offers opportunities for wine tasting, while the rugged Carnic Alps to the north provide scenic hiking trails. Fagagna’s location, combining cultural heritage with natural beauty, makes it an inviting place to explore within Friuli Venezia Giulia.​
