The lake is artificial with a dam at one end and offers little in terms of tourism. However, just above the lake is the village of Bomba (yes, that does mean bomb!), while another charming village, Colledimezzo, lies at its southern end.
Although the lake doesn't really merit a special visit, there are some fascinating places close by. In particular, the village of Roccascalegna whose hilltop fortress sits at a seemingly impossible angle but offers magnificent panoramas. Pizzoferrato is another hilltop village to the south of Lake Bomba while further north there's another lake by the town of Casoli. That lake has two names: either Lake Casoli or Lake Sant'Angelo and it's one that offers a little more than Lake Bomba in terms of lakeside leisure during the warmer months.
