Lake Carezza, also known as Karersee in German, is a stunning alpine lake located in the province of South Tyrol (Alto Adige) in northern Italy. Surrounded by the Dolomites' impressive peaks and lush forests, Lake Carezza is renowned for its emerald-green waters and enchanting scenery, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and photographers.
History
Lake Carezza has a fascinating legend associated with its creation. According to local folklore, the lake was formed from the tears of a beautiful water nymph who fell in love with a wizard.

​The wizard, angered by the nymph's rejection, destroyed the rainbow that connected their worlds, causing the rainbow's colors to fall into the lake, creating its iridescent hues. The name "Carezza" itself means "caress" in Italian, referring to the lake's gentle and captivating beauty.
