The lakes of Trentino Alto Adige South Tyrol are perhaps the finest collection that any one of the 20 regions of Italy can boast.
Along with the neighbouring regions of Veneto and Lombardy, the Trentino Alto Adige South Tyrol region encompasses a part of Lake Garda: the largest lake in Italy at 370 km². However, when it comes to lakes, the old adage that size doesn't necessarily matter most certainly comes into play. Lake Tenno for example is rather tiny by comparison but is quite astounding with its bright blue water that wouldn't be out of place in the Caribbean. Lake Braies is also very small but attracts visitors from far and wide with its natural beauty. |
