The lakeside towns of Umbria provide the opportunity to keep cool during the warm summer months, even though the region is one of the few in Italy that doesn't have a coastline.
Umbria's Lake Trasimeno is the fourth largest lake in Italy with its surface area of 128 km² and there are four great resorts to choose from around its edges. The most attractive two are Passignano sul Trasimeno and Castiglione del Lago, while the likes of San Feliciano and Tuoro sul Trasimeno are much smaller. The town of Piediluco lies in a different part of Umbria, on the regional border with Lazio where it's something of a hidden gem on Lake Piediluco. |
