Sightseeing Loano
A popular seaside resort in the summer, it's dominated by its seafront promenade where a surfeit of beach establishments offer umbrellas and sun beds. Just behind the beach area is a thriving corridor of shops on Via Garibaldi, characterised by the typical multi-coloured architecture of Liguria.
One of the most interesting areas of Loano is Piazza Italia where you'll find the unusual round church: the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. The circular church is mirrored by the circular piazza that it sits on which is also fringed by another church: the Oratorio di rostra Signora del Rosario, and the Palazzo Doria which is nowadays the town hall.
Just to the north of the town centre and the beaches is Loano's thriving marina where hundreds of yachts and smaller craft are moored, while heading inland, the imposing Convento di Monte Carmelo is one of the town's most iconic structures.
