The major cities and towns of Umbria start with the regional capital of Perugia. There are just two provinces in Umbria with Perugia being the capital of its eponymous province, and the second city of Terni the capital of the other.
Whilst Perugia and Terni both have populations in excess of 100,000, the next city on the list is Foligno with around 50,000 and beyond that, they become more towns than cities. The towns include some of Umbria's most popular tourist locations including the historic Città di Castello and the outstanding hill towns of Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio and Orvieto. |
