Parks  and  Nature  Reserves  of  Sicily

Perhaps the most famous of all the parks and nature reserves of Sicily is the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro. Covering an area of 16 km², the island region's best-loved nature reserve is situated on a peninsula of north-western Sicily close to the seaside resort of San Vito Lo Capo. The Riserva dello Zingaro and the whole area that surrounds it is full of outstanding scenery and stunning beaches. 

Offering something altogether different and quite surprising, is the Stagnone Nature Reserve between Trapani and Marsala. The sight of windmills against the backdrop of salt pans is quite unusual in Sicily while the reserve itself is a favourite spot for kite-surfing.
