The Piazza del Plebiscito in Ancona is by no means the largest square in the city or necessarily even its main focal point.
However, what the Piazza may lack in terms of size or open space, it makes up for with its charm and character. The narrow central walkway is enclosed on all sides by tall buildings, creating an intimate atmosphere and one of the liveliest places in Ancona. |
The highlight of the Piazza is the monumental staircase which leads up to the Chiesa di San Domenico. This is one of the best places to eat out in Ancona with a number of bars and restaurants with outside tables.
