How to Get to Rocca Imperiale
By Rail: Rocca Imperiale has its own train station, Rocca Imperiale Scalo, located in the lower part of the town on the Taranto–Reggio Calabria line operated by Trenitalia. Regional services connect the station to Taranto in about 1 hour and 30 minutes and to Crotone in around 2 hours and 15 minutes. Local buses and taxis provide links between the lower station area and the hilltop historic centre.

By Road: Rocca Imperiale is situated in northern Calabria, close to the border with Basilicata, about 130 kilometres north of Crotone. The drive takes approximately 2 hours via the SS106. From Matera, the distance is around 90 kilometres, with a journey time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes via the SS653. The town lies just off the Ionian coastal highway, and parking is available near both the modern district and the old town below the Castello Svevo.

  • Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport: Located about 160 kilometres north of Rocca Imperiale, with a drive of around 2 hours and 15 minutes via the SS106 and SS7. This is the most convenient airport, offering numerous domestic and international flights.
  • Brindisi Salento Airport: Situated roughly 130 kilometres northeast, taking about 2 hours by car via the SS7 and SS106. It provides regular routes across Italy and Europe.
  • Lamezia Terme International Airport: Approximately 190 kilometres southwest, with a journey time of around 2 hours and 50 minutes via the A2 motorway. It offers a wide range of national and international connections.
