The Sirente Velino Regional Park is situated in the Province of l'Aquila and covers an area of 564 km².

It lies around 25 kilometres south of l'Aquila or just 12 km north of Celano if arriving from the other direction. Among the suitable accommodation bases for visiting the park are Ovindoli, Celano, Avezzano and l'Aquila.

Sirente Velino Regional Park is a beautiful natural reserve located in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. Spanning across the provinces of L'Aquila and Rieti, the park is characterized by its diverse landscapes, rich biodiversity, and historical heritage. It was established in 1989 to protect and preserve the unique natural and cultural assets of the region.
 History
The area of Sirente Velino has a long history dating back to ancient times. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and was an important region during the Roman Empire. Throughout the centuries, the area has seen the influence of various civilizations, including the Lombards and the Kingdom of Naples.

In more recent history, Sirente Velino played a crucial role during World War II, being a battleground between Allied and German forces in the Italian Campaign. The park still bears traces of this historical significance.
