The town of Stra is located within the Metropolitan City of Venice province and has a population of 7,672 . It's situated around 40 kilometres south west of Venice, the regional capital of Veneto.​ 

Standing at an elevation of 9 metres above sea level, it covers an area of 8 km². The main sight in the town is the beautiful Villa Pisani stately home and garden.
