In terms of separate listings there are a total of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Emilia Romagna although each listing includes multiple locations. For example, the Ferrara, City of the Renaissance and its Po Delta listing includes both the city itself and the neighbouring area of wetlands which combined towards developing the planned "ideal city".
The city of Modena earned its listing in 1997 for its Cathedral, Torre Ghirlandina and Piazza Grande, while Ravenna is home to numerous monuments such as the Basilica di San Vitale, the Neonian Baptistery and the Basilica di Sant'Apollinare in Classe. |
