The UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Lombardy include a range of locations from archaeological sites to religious buildings, cities, towns and feats of engineering including a railway and a city wall.
The oldest sites on the list are the Rock Drawings in Valcamonica and the Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps; a listing that is shared between numerous Italian regions. Another listing, Monte San Giorgio is split between Lombardy and Switzerland where it straddles the border, while the Rhaetian Railway is shared between those same countries. The company town of Crespi d'Adda also features on the list alongside two of the Sacri Monti. |
