The UTI Collio - Alto Isonzo territory occupies a total geographical area of 202 square kilometres, including its administrative centre, the town of Gorizia on the Slovenian border.

One of the Intercomunal Territorial Unions of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, it has a total population of around 67,000 inhabitants living within its 15 official comunes (municipalities). ​
