​The Alcantara Gorge is situated within the Metropolitan City of Messina province and belongs to the Comune of Motta Camastra.

Its full Italian name is the Gole Alcantara Parco Botanico e Geologico and is sometimes referred to as a river park. The favourite activity here is to wade through the narrow gorge to discover the fascinating rock and mineral formations on either side.

Alcantara Gorge is a natural landmark located in the northeastern part of Sicily, near the town of Giardini Naxos. The gorge is formed by the Alcantara River, which has carved through the volcanic rock over thousands of years, creating striking basalt columns and a deep ravine.
