​The hill town of Artena is situated within the Metropolitan City of Rome province, a distance of 52 kilometres south east of Rome, the regional capital of Lazio. 

Standing at an elevation of 420 metres above sea level it has a population of around 14,000 residents. Nearby places of interest include Cori, Palestrina, Castel San Pietro Romano, and Nemi.

Artena is a medieval town located in the province of Rome, in the Lazio region, situated about 40 kilometres southeast of the capital. Perched on a hilltop, the town offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, including the nearby Valle del Sacco and the mountains that form part of the region’s natural landscape. Artena’s elevated position and charming medieval features make it a peaceful and scenic destination for visitors.

The town is characterised by its narrow, cobbled streets, stone buildings, and several important landmarks. Notable sites include the Church of San Francesco and the remnants of its ancient city walls and fortifications, which highlight the town’s strategic importance in the past.
