The hill town of Camerota is situated within​ the Province of Salerno, a distance of 177 kilometres south east of Naples, the regional capital of Campania. 

Standing at an elevation of 422 metres above sea level it has a population of around 7,200 residents.

Nearby places of interest include Marina di Camerota, San Giovanni a Piro and Palinuro.
