The town of Castelvecchio Calvisio is situated within the Province of l'Aquila and has a population of 137 inhabitants.

Standing at an elevation of 1,045 metres above sea level, it covers a total area of 15 km².

Castelvecchio Calvisio appears on the main road leading away from Calascio and Rocca Calascio, heading south towards the Sirente-Velino Regional Park.
