Curon  Bell  Tower​

The Curon Bell Tower is the top section of a tower that protrudes from a submerged church on Lake Resia in the South Tyrol Province. Images of the tower flashed around the world when it was the setting for the 2020 TV Series called Curon. 

The name of the tower and the show relate to the village that was submerged in order to allow for a hydroelectric plant in 1950.

The Curon Bell Tower, also known as the "Campanile di Curon" or "Steeple in the Reschensee," is a striking and unique sight located in the South Tyrol region of northern Italy. The tower is situated in Curon Venosta (Graun im Vinschgau), a small town near Lake Reschen (Reschensee).
History
The Curon Bell Tower has a fascinating and tragic history. In the 1930s, the construction of a hydroelectric power plant led to the creation of Lake Reschen, which submerged the entire village of Alt-Graun, including its church and cemetery. To preserve some of the cultural heritage, the 14th-century church tower was left standing, rising eerily from the waters of the lake.

The tower became a symbol of the region and a reminder of the village that once stood there. During the winter months, when the lake freezes over, it is possible to walk to the tower.
