The lakeside town of San Valentino alla Muta is situated within the Province of South Tyrol, on the shores of Lake Muta.

It has a population of around 800 residents and is located a distance of 98 kilometres north west by road from Bolzano, the provincial capital of South Tyrol. Nearby places of interest include Glorenza, Lake Resia and the Stelvio National Park.
