The best lakeside towns of Lombardy represent some of the best resorts in Italy. The Lombardy region can boast the three largest lakes of Italy starting with Lake Garda which it shares with Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. Some of the best lakeside resorts around Lake Garda within Lombardy include Sirmione, Limone and Salò.

Contained entirely within Lombardy is Italy's third biggest lake: the glorious Lake Como. Its best resorts number Varenna, Bellagio and Cernobbio among a host of others. On the Lombardy side of Lake Maggiore, Italy's second largest lake, are the likes of Luino and Laveno-Mombello along with dozens of smaller resorts.
