The official name of Pisa Airport is Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport; named after one of the city's most famous sons. This is is the busiest of the two international airports in Tuscany, the second one being Florence Airport.
In terms of location, this is one of the most conveniently positioned airports in Italy with Pisa city centre just 3 kilometres away. |

Adding to the overall convenience is the recently-installed Pisamover; an electric, unmanned train that ships passengers from the airport to to the city centre in just 6 minutes. The only other stop on the train line is the airport's car park which is only 3 minutes away.
The airline with the most flights in and out of Pisa is Ryanair who fly from here to dozens of international destinations. UK travellers can fly here from London (Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick and Luton), Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford, East Midlands, Liverpool or Newcastle upon Tyne, either with Ryanair or two other low-cost airlines: Easyjet and Jet2.
Domestically you can fly from Pisa to Rome, the Sicilian airports of Palermo and Catania, the Puglian airports Bari and Brindisi, Alghero in Sardinia or Lamezia Terme in Calabria. There are also dozens of European cities connected to Pisa including Moscow, Dublin, Berlin and Munich to name just a few.
Viareggio on Tuscany's Versilia coast is just a half an hour drive away on the A12 motorway while the Tuscan capital Florence is a bit further away, a drive of an hour and a half.
