Sambuca di Sicilia, a hill town in the Province of Agrigento, is noted for its Arab-Norman heritage and historic centre. Local accommodation is mainly smaller residences, so for established hotels it is better to look towards the coast and nearby towns.

In Sciacca, Hotel Aliai provides modern rooms overlooking the harbour, often praised for comfort and location (€€). Also in Sciacca, Hotel Club Alicudi offers resort-style facilities with pools, gardens and family-friendly services, regularly noted for its setting (€€). ​Situated in Agrigento Province, the borgo of Sambuca di Sicilia is listed as one of the "Borghi Più Belli d'Italia" (Italy's most beautiful villages) and has a population of just under 6,000 inhabitants. 

In January 2019 Sambuca's mayor Giuseppe Cacioppo brought the town to the world's attention when he made a number of homes available for a nominal fee of €1.

How to Get to Sambuca di Sicilia
By Rail: Sambuca di Sicilia does not have its own train station, but the nearest one is in Castelvetrano, about 30 kilometres away, on the Palermo–Trapani line operated by Trenitalia. Regional trains connect Castelvetrano to Palermo in around 2 hours and to Marsala in about 1 hour. From the station, local buses and taxis provide regular transport to Sambuca di Sicilia.

By Road: Sambuca di Sicilia is located in western Sicily, about 90 kilometres southwest of Palermo. The drive takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes via the SS624. From Agrigento, the distance is approximately 70 kilometres, with a journey time of about 1 hour and 20 minutes via the SS115 and SP69. The town is reached by scenic rural roads surrounded by vineyards, with public parking available near the centre and close to the old quarter.

  • Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport: Situated about 95 kilometres north of Sambuca di Sicilia, with a drive of around 1 hour and 40 minutes via the SS624. This is the most convenient airport, offering a wide range of domestic and international flights.
