San Terenzo: lively beach resort on the Italian Riviera
San Terenzo lies just two kilometres away from its much bigger neighbour: Lerici. It's actually a really nice walk of around half an hour or so between the two towns and they are definitely both worth a visit. This is one of the most difficult towns to find a parking space available in the region, and it's often the case that you need to use the La Vallata car park which is a little bit outside the town, even though it's just a 15 minute walk from there to San Terenzo.
The main attraction of San Terenzo comes in the form of its beaches which get very busy during the summer, so if you can avoid coming in July or August you'll find there's a lot more space and the weather in June or September is lovely anyway. The beaches are sandy and the water is clean, while there are a good number of bars and restaurants in the pretty town area which is largely pedestrianised.

Close to San Terenzo
Sitting on the eastern shore of the famed Golfo dei Poeti, San Terenzo is situated among some of Italy's most glamorous resorts, with the most famous of those, Portovenere lying on the opposite shore, a 35 minute drive away. Again though, driving can create problems as if you thought the parking was difficult in San Terenzo, just try and get a place in Portovenere during the summer!
Between San Terenzo and Portovenere lies the port city of La Spezia which has its own interesting touches. It's just ten kilometres from San Terenzo and takes about 15 minutes to reach by car. La Spezia enjoys a position of importance in terms of tourism as many people that visit the Cinque Terre, use the town's accommodation facilities and take the train to the five villages which lie beyond the headland of Portovenere. In the opposite direction to La Spezia there's a lovely little town called Tellaro that doesn't get as busy as the other towns nearby and is full of charm, taking its rightful place among the Borghi Più Belli d'Italia.
