The village of Sante Marie is situated within the Province of l'Aquila and has a population of 1,147 inhabitants.

Standing at an elevation of 850 metres above sea level, it covers a total area of 40 km².

Sante Marie occupies a position among the Apennine Mountains, close to the regional border with Lazio. 

​It's just five kilometres from Sante Marie to the pretty town of Tagliacozzo and a little further to the Sirente Velino Regional Park.
