​The beach resort of Sferracavallo is situated within the Metropolitan City of Palermo province, on the Tyrrhenian coast. It's part of the comune of Palermo, 16 kilometres away.

Places of interest nearby include Isola delle Femmine, Mondello, Monreale and Santa Flavia while Palermo Airport is 19 kilometres away and takes around twenty minutes to reach by car.

Sferracavallo is a charming fishing village located on the northern coast of Sicily, Italy, near the city of Palermo. Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, Sferracavallo offers a unique blend of coastal beauty, traditional fishing heritage, and a relaxed, local atmosphere.
History
The history of Sferracavallo dates back to ancient times. The area was originally settled by the Sicels, an ancient indigenous population of Sicily. Later, it came under the influence of various civilizations, including the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, and Normans.

The village's name "Sferracavallo" has an interesting origin. It is believed to have been derived from the Arabic term "saqi al-cavallo," meaning "where the horse drinks," as the area once had a freshwater spring where horses were watered.

Throughout history, Sferracavallo maintained its strong ties to fishing and maritime activities, making it an essential fishing hub in the region.
