The vineyard towns of Tuscany provide a well-established type of holiday where relaxation and discovery are at the top of the menu.
One of the best things about Tuscany is its wine production and its proliferation of outstanding vineyards where the produce can be tasted. The Chianti region in particular is sprinkled with vineyard towns and smaller villages where the scenery is just as magical as the wines produced there. The towns of Greve in Chianti and Radda in Chianti are two particularly popular bases for exploration of the bucolic region. |
Bolgheri in the Livorno Province is almost entirely given over to the production of wine and the associated tourism. The tiny village is surrounded by sweeping rows of vineyards the and the historic centre full of beautiful restaurants and bars where the wines can be tried.
Montepulciano is home to the famous Vino Nobile while a short distance across Siena Province is another beautiful Tuscan hill town that offers its own highly-prized product: the Brunello of Montalcino. The area around Carmignano is another that's famous for its wine production with a long-established tradition dating back to the Middle Ages.
