​The town of Barberino di Mugello is part of the Metropolitan City of Florence province with a population of 11,003 inhabitants.

Standing at an elevation of 270 metres above sea level, it's located a distance of 40 kilometres north of Florence, the regional capital of Tuscany.  Nearby places of interest include Lake Bilancino, Borgo San Lorenzo, Scarperia and Vicchio.

Barberino di Mugello is a charming town located in the Mugello Valley, in the Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. It is situated about 25 kilometers northeast of Florence and is surrounded by beautiful hills, lakes, and scenic landscapes. ​
History
The history of Barberino di Mugello dates back to ancient times, with evidence of Etruscan settlements in the area. The town's name is derived from the Barberini family, who played a significant role in its medieval development.

Throughout its history, Barberino di Mugello has been a strategic location due to its proximity to Florence and its position along the ancient Roman road known as the Via Cassia. The town experienced both periods of prosperity and conflicts during the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
