How to Get to Chiaromonte
By Rail: Chiaromonte does not have its own train station, but the nearest one is in Policoro, about 50 kilometres away, on the Taranto–Reggio Calabria line operated by Trenitalia. Regional services connect Policoro to Taranto in around 1 hour and 15 minutes and to Reggio Calabria in about 3 hours. From Policoro, buses and taxis run regularly to Chiaromonte.

By Road: Chiaromonte is situated in southern Basilicata, around 120 kilometres southeast of Potenza. The drive takes roughly 1 hour and 50 minutes via the SS92 and SS653. From Matera, the distance is about 130 kilometres, with a journey time of approximately 2 hours via the SS7 and SS598. The town lies within the Pollino National Park and is easily reached by regional roads, with parking available close to the historic centre and the panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Sinni Valley.

  • Lamezia Terme International Airport: Located about 170 kilometres southwest of Chiaromonte, with a drive of around 2 hours and 40 minutes via the A2 motorway. This is the most convenient airport, with a good range of domestic and international flights.
  • Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport: Approximately 200 kilometres north, taking around 3 hours by car via the SS407. It provides frequent national and European connections.
  • Naples–Capodichino International Airport: Situated roughly 230 kilometres west, with a journey time of about 3 hours and 20 minutes via the A3 and SS19. It offers numerous routes throughout Italy and Europe.
