Located in the Province of Potenza, the Diga di Monte Cotugno is an artificial lake with a surface area of 18.5 km². The lake is situated at the edge of Pollino National Park, 122 kilometres from the city of Potenza, regional capital of Basilicata.

Among the places of interest close by are Senise, Valsinni, Francavilla in Sinni and Chiaromonte.
