Hill  Towns  of  Basilicata

The hill towns of Basilicata are one of the most prominent features of the region. Almost every town in Basilicata could arguably be listed here as the hinterland terrain is a combination of hills and valleys where towns were built in defensive positions. 

​One of the joys of driving around Basilicata is that you almost always find something new and this list which already contains 23 hill towns still has some growing to do yet. 

Among the highlights are the dazzling Muro Lucano, mystical San Fele and the exquisite Rivello which dominates the local landscape.
