​The town of Ferrandina is situated within the Province of Matera in the region of Basilicata and has a population of 2,859 inhabitants. Standing at an elevation of 420 metres above sea level, it covers a total area of 218 km². 

The town has two hotels while nearby places of interest include Miglionico, Pisticci, Craco, Matera and Bernalda.
