2022 Covid Restrictions and Entry Requirements
The Italian Ministry of Health website was updated on 1 May 2022 with the latest raft of rule changes towards a general relaxation of travel restrictions.
The previous lists of letter-coded countries has now been scrapped, in favour of a simplified set of rules that apply to every nation. As of 1 May, the requirement to complete a Digital Passenger Locator Form is no longer necessary.
Entry requirements for anyone entering Italy:
Any passenger that is unable to comply with the above conditions is required to spend the first five days of their stay in Italy in self-isolation.
The above entry requirements into Italy are applicable from 1 May to 1 June 2022. Assuming the prevalence and severity of the virus continues its downward trajectory, it is hoped that some of these restrictions will be further eased from June onwards.

The 1 May rule changes also included an easing of restrictions surrounding the wearing of face masks. The masks are now no longer obligatory in restaurants, shops or cultural attractions, either indoors or outdoors. They are still required on all forms of public transport until 15 June 2022 however.
